Other organizations & needs
Different organizations.
A clear place to begin.
Construction companies, other businesses, and organizations with a specific reporting question can start here. Tell us what is being requested and who needs it.
Construction businesses
A lender, surety, or other party may request financial reporting. Bring the exact report requirement, reporting period, deadline, and a brief description of your business. Mention whether a work-in-progress schedule is maintained and the current status of the books.
Other for-profit entities
Describe your industry, ownership structure, and the reason for the request. Audit and review inquiries can be considered in the context of the recipient’s requirements and the prospective firm’s capabilities.
Agreed-upon procedures
An AUP engagement addresses specified procedures and reports findings, without an audit opinion or review conclusion. Explain the subject matter, intended users, records involved, and any written instructions from the recipient.
Another reporting or consulting need
If your request does not fit one of these categories, explain the outcome you need. The initial discussion will clarify whether there is a suitable next step and who would provide the service. Availability and scope are not assumed.
Before the next step
The request comes first.
Begin with a brief overview. Detailed financial records can follow through an appropriate secure process if discussions progress.
Useful details
- Your organization, industry, and location
- The report or outcome requested, in the recipient’s words
- The reporting period and final deadline
- The status of your accounting records
- The person who will coordinate and approve the work
Can an AUP replace an audit?
Do not assume so. It provides findings from specified procedures, not the assurance provided by an audit or review. Confirm the recipient’s requirement and discuss the proposed scope with the prospective CPA firm.
Who would perform the engagement?
Audit Assist provides education and receives inquiries. It does not perform audits, reviews, or agreed-upon procedures engagements. A separate CPA firm would be identified before a proposal and would evaluate, accept, and perform any such engagement.
What if I am not sure what service I need?
Choose “Not sure yet” in the inquiry form and describe the request. The next conversation can help clarify which questions need to be resolved before a proposal is considered.
